The 3rd collection of Boat Hat’s painted patches is proudly done in collaboration with John Wayne Enterprises. Working closely with Ethan Wayne and his team, we dug through their archives and Ethan’s brain to tell a little known visual story that would explain the feelings and lifestyle aboard John Wayne’s converted mine sweeper, The Wild Goose.
This boat is the place where John Wayne could truly be himself and partake on the adventures he loved so much. Each patch has been hand painted oil on canvas by Dougie Mann.
This collection is dedicated to two fine people - my dad, Lance Mann (who's love for John Wayne is clearly contagious) and in memory of my dear pal Charles Humphrey Keating IV (who lived a life John Wayne would have approved of and who died protecting our country).
Thank you to Punker Pat for all the needle moving - and Pat Myers for the video work.
